The Colwell article is here:
http://www.southbendtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060326/OPINION07/603260608/-1/OPINION/CAT=OPINION07

Chocola's extra campaign funds came with a price: him standing next to George W. Bush. That used to be something of a benefit to Republican candidates. Now, it's an albatross around their necks. The Bush administration's mismanagement of the Iraq War has turned it into a quagmire. Despite all of the money poured into Homeland Security, the Department of Homeland Security basically sat by and watched as New Orleans was washed off the map. Deficits are soaring. Communist China owns huge amounts of our debt. And Rep. Chocola has been by his side the whole way.

God help us if more legislators had been like Chocola and wanted to support Mr. Bush's efforts to privatize social security. I suspect lots of the elderly would be in bad shape if Chocola and Bush had done for social security what they've done for the deficit, New Orleans, and Iraq.

Recently Jack Colwell, columnist for the South Bend Tribune, commented on Joe Donnelly's appearance in the Boston Globe. Colwell pointed out that Donnelly will not receive any votes from Boston; moreover, he continues to need substantial support from the national Democratic party machine to help his campaign. I agree with both points. However, Mr. Colwell went on to say that Chocola's sizeable lead in campaign funds gives him an advantage over Donnelly as far as media buying power. I would hope that voters in the 2nd district could look past the glossy tv ads that are sure to come and take a hard look at Chocola's record and the effect it has had on our area. The question is: are you better off than you were two years ago? Is our district? Is the country?

Another point to consider is this: when the Boston Globe picked an area to visit to show the disillusionment that voters, not just Democrats, have with President Bush and those who support him (i.e. Chocola), they chose northern Indiana. Indiana has a reputation on the east and west coasts as a typical midwestern "red" state that has given President Bush strong and steady support. If his popularity is sliding here, he must be in trouble. He is, and so is Chocola.

Hello. First, my compliments on your website. Nice job! I came across your site while I was searching for Indiana Democratic blogs/sites. I live in Mishawaka, but I used to live in Peru. My family always came to Indiana Beach every summer; I had a lot of fun in Monticello and Lake Shafer. I am a volunteer on Joe Donnelly's congressional campaign. I worked on Joe's staff in 2004 and came through Buffalo last year during our RV tour of the district. For those in the eastern part of White county, would you consider adding Joe's site to your "sites of interest"? His site is WWW.DONNELLYFORUSCONGRESS.COM
I hope I can make it back to White County this year.

Keep up the good work,
Dustin Blythe
